      RUN/STOP Button
Pressing RUN/STOP once will start the control process if the temperature controller is stopped, or stop the control process if the temperature controller is the run mode. If the temperature controller is running, “Heat” and “Cool” on-screen indicators will illuminate appropriay with the mode selected in the setup menu. The ‘Control Action’ selection is in the Advance Menu Gateway setup.
TUNE Button Pressing TUNE once will start the AUTO TUNE cycle. AUTO TUNING must be enabled in the setup menu for this key to function. ALARM Button In an ALARM situation, the display will display either “WARNING” or “ERROR”with corresponding warning or error. A “WARNING” will not stop the control process. An “ERROR” will stop the control process.MANUAL RESET mode: Pressing ALARM once will silence the audible alarm and clear the onscreen alarm message. If the alarm situation is present the “Alarm/Action Display” will remain illuminated. The alarm and on-screen message will not clear automatically, even if the system is no
longer in an alarm situation.AUTO RESET mode: Pressing the ALARM once will silence the audible alarm and clear the onscreen alarm message. If the alarm situation is still present, the “Alarm/Action Display” will remain illuminated. If the system leaves and alarm situation, the system will automatically silence the alarm and clear the on-screen alarm message.SELECT Button Pressing SELECT once will allow you to cycle through user-configurable control Set Points. The Set Point selected will be underlined. Set Points may be changed by using the UP and DOWN arrow keys.

      MENU Button
The MENU button provides access to all user-configurable setup parameters of the Temperature Controller. Pressing this key once will scroll through parameter options. Pressing and holding this key will exit to the home screen, saving any changes made up to that point.UP, DOWN, LEFT Arrow Buttons The UP and DOWN arrow buttons will increase or decrease the value of the Set Point selected(underlined). Pressing the UP or DOWN arrow keys will increase or decrease numerical entries by
the least significant digit (i.e. 00.0 to 00.1, 1 to 2). Pressing and holding UP or DOWN arrow keys will increase or decrease numerical entries using an acceleration factor. For every ten units, the rate of acceleration will increase by a factor of ten. Pressing and holding UP and DOWN arrow keys will increase or decrease text entries without an acceleration factor. The LEFT arrow button allows you move backwards through the GENERAL SETUP MENU (GSM) and ADVANCED SETUP MENU (ASM). While in the ASM, you can move backwards to the first ASM screen, but cannot back into the GSM. To exit to the main screen from either menu, press and hold the MENU button.HEAT, COOL, AND TUNE When any of these modes are active they will have a block indicator on the display showing they are active. Example: When the control is in the heat mode and it is applying power to the heater

      1. IEC power cord connection (see page 23 of user manual for additional cords)
      2. Fuse
      3. Heater/Cooler output (IEC 60320 on 230 volt, 5-15R on 115 volt) see page 24, 25 of user manual for optional country cord adapters.
      4. Control power switch
      5. Grip support bracket
      6. Thermocouple, Type: J, K, N, R, S, T, B, and E (miniature 2 pin flat blade)
      Installation
♦ Install control in safe operating area.
♦ Plug Heater/Cooler into the output connector, located on the back of the control.
♦ Connect input sensor into the proper connection input on control and place the thermocouple in the process that is being controlled. Install ferrite on lead wire of sensor. If further instruction is needed, see the user manual on installation of the ferrite.
♦ Plug supplied AC cord into the IEC connector, located on back of the control.

      Operation Set up
♦ To enter the user-configurable setup press the MENU key from the system status screen.
♦ Use the MENU key to advance through each menu setting.
♦ Use the UP & DOWN key to make changes in each menu setting screen.
♦ Reference the flow chart (see pages 16 & 17 of manual) to have visual of the overall menu layout.
♦ When all settings have been made and saved the control will return to the System Status
      screen.
♦ Set the Set Point temperature by pressing the select button one time. A line will appear under the Set Point value.
♦ Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to change the Set Point value.
♦ Press the SELECT key one time when finished and the line under the Set Point will disappear.
♦ Press the RUN/STOP key when ready to start the heating/cooling operation.
♦ Running the TUNE feature is recommended when running a new process variables.

      Tune Operation
♦ Set the process temperature as instructed in the operation setup.
♦ Verify that the Auto Tune feature is enabled in the menu settings.
♦ From the System Status screen set the Set Point temperature.
♦ Press the TUNE button and the indicator showing Tune will have be illuminated on display.
♦ The Set Point value isn’t changeable after the Tune process has started. The value is locked until the Tune process is complete or aborted by the user.
♦ Stopping the Tune operation prior to it finishing will cause the PID settings to be returned to factory default values.
♦ PID values will be saved in non-volatile memory.

      Control Sensor
Proper placement of the sensor can eliminate many problems in the operation of the system. The probe should be placed so that it can detect any temperature change with little thermal lag. In a process that requires fairly constant heat output, the probe should be located close to the heater. In processes where heat demand is variable, the probe should be located close to the work area. Experimenting with probe location will provide optimum results for the users specific application.
